I'd like to start off by saying thank you to the wonderful Annalise Shaffer for letting me use her photography for the banner for this page. Anna is a talened photographer as well as videographer and has some really interesting stuff up on Youtube. She's got everything from info on blindness to stuff on Kyoto's Monkey Mountain. Anna is most known for her videos on albinism. Check her out!

Right now, I'm a student at Kyoto's Ritsumeikan University, participating in the year long SKP (Study in Kyoto Program) study abroad experience. When I first learned I was accepted to Rits, naturally I was estatic and began to explore the internet for pictures, video tours of the housing, and a nice look at Rits' campus. My search resulted in a lot of disappointment because I couldn't find anything! Luckily, I had a friend who had studied at Ritsumeikan before me and she did a great job at filling in the gaps. For those of you who are having a hard time getting to know Kyoto and Ritsumeikan before you head off for your year/semester of study abroad, I hope this site will help answer some of your questions.

Alright, so a little about me! My name is Ayla. Kayla without the K. I'm from Western Michigan University and am majoring in international studies and minoring in Japanese. I've been studying Japanese since I was a sophomore in high school and have continued my studies up until now. I like music from all over, mostly indie though, I gotta say. I'm a freelance videographer and I have also worked at Public Media Network (a local television station in my area) for 4 years. If you have questions about Rits or Japan in general, shoot me a message on Facebook and I'll be happy to answer any and everything.
